Things to do when bored...

Many of you may not have this problem. You still have kids at home and are just struggling to find time to BREATHE, let alone figure out what to do with "down time". Others of you have very demanding full-time jobs that keep you hopping at work and off work. Others of you are extremely driven, stimulated people who have to be TOLD to slow down and take a break and never seem to run out of things to do.

Then, there's people like me.

So, I do things like.... do searches for what to do when bored!

yeah.

And here are some things, in case you happen to be like me and would be interested, that I came up with, that actually are a bit creative-juice stirring:

  • Workout
  • Create a web site (a good one)
  • Read a good book
  • Draw a picture
  • Find a food recipe online and try to make it
  • Learn to play (insert instrument here)
  • Join a sport
  • Watch movies
  • Write a book
  • Redesign a room
  • Plant a garden
  • Take a class

Any other ideas out there??

Think I may go pick up my flute....

Agree to go to your brother's wedding and be flooded with a billion things to do and not enough time to do it all? LOL Well that's what will be keeping me busy this week anyway!

No, really. A couple things I like to do when I'm bored, in addition to the things you listed already: make jewelry, make candles, or crochet. And then there's the ever popular - get the cameras out and head outdoors to find interesting/pretty things to photograph! Or open up PhotoShop and play around with that a while, mess with filters and effects on there with copies of my photos to see what I can come up with.

I make soap once in a while too but only 'melt and pour' soaps as I don't trust myself to handle lye to make CP soaps like our lovely Lacy does!

Thanks, Ronda!!! :-D

Leah, those are some great ideas!!!
I think my "problem" is I am bored, but I don't give myself permission to play. I'm glad you do!! I feel like I should at least be doing something productive (ie.work) all the time. So it's a thing of feeling antsy and not sure what to do with myself, but then also needing to allow myself the joy of slowing down mentally and letting myself just play and create and not feel like I "should be doing something else" all the time.
Not sure where that comes from- as nobody is making me feel guilty... it's ME making me feel guilty.
Oh, brother!!!
Guilt. I should post about GUILT.
You'd think I had a Jewish mother with the amount of guilt I seem to load on myself (learned that from The Nanny).

When I do get that quiet time which is rare, I piddle. No distractions, just enjoy the uninterrupted thought time. LOL!

I can clean things that I never seem to get to, take a break and read, and just enjoy. And I don't answer the phone. =P

You forgot coming over to my house to help in the chaos. A sure fire cure for boredom. <:D

I torture my children...with chores. When I get bored, I start looking around the house at the things I haven't done and then get the whole team to pitch in to get the house clean. Then I can take time to do a good portion of the things on your list.
