Book Club, Anyone??

I really, really, really want to be part of a book club!!!
I've always dreamed of having book club with a group of gals, sitting around, talking sipping coffee or wine and eating desserts and cheese (you know- like in the books).
Special gals. Gals I could talk to about anything- who I could trust.
But do you know how hard it is to find a group like that?!?! I had a group of friends like that in high school, and I had a group of friends like that about 12 years ago.
Now, I don't really have any friends like that. Friends that are sort of "on my page" and available, and enjoy hanging out once in a while.
Everyone seems to have their own lives and be so caught up in it- and making time for friends seems to be so hard- and I get so exhausted trying to drum up a get-together. I'd like something that is just ON the schedule and everyone involved is committed to, and that's that. No hard work. Just friends wanting to enjoy friends.

Where are the girlfriend groups?!?!

And I guess it doesn't have to be a BOOK club. It could be a movie club. A brunch club. A coffee club. Just something with some women I connect with where we sit and talk.
Girl time.

Does anyone participate in something like this??
Do tell!!

We have nothing like that out here in the boondocks... Though I'd love it!

We do have a family that we get together with about once a month that we absolutely adore. But there's an hour drive involved so it doesn't happen more frequently. =(

I have an online Book Club, two actually ...one is mine The Bloggy Book Club and The other is called Online book Club! But, I don't have anything like that in Real World. My Hubby and I are members of a Couples group I started ten years ago...we are social and we pray for each other! It has about 15 couples in it and we meet twice a month! Sometimes we go out and sometimes we just meet in each others house. We have all seen each other through some very trying times! We are called CUPIDS...Couples United Prayerfully in Devoted Service! But...I would be a member of you book club if we lived close!!!

I too wish I had something like that here...but I can't seem to find anyone who wants to commit (or better yet not make excuses) and do it on a regular basis...Then there are the people I just don't want to be around that often...lol.

Just wanted to say thanks for stopping by my blog Monday...being saucy was a lot of fun!!

I'd like something like that too.

I haven't found it either. If you can get one started, tell me how you did it.

I had the same need for God and friendship and in 2002 I started a Christian Women's Book Club, 8 members, and this month we decided to end it all. A good book is Neta Jackson's The Yada Yada Prayer Group which is very popular and Yada Yada Groups have popped up all over the nation! I'd be happy to help you get started if you decide to venture out! God bless you.
