OH MY GOSH PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!

Okay, my bro-in-law called me this afternoon at work (where I have no internet so I've had to SIT on this ALL DAY!!!!)
MY SISTER HAD HER BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were driving to the midwife birthing center..... when all of a sudden, my sister KNEW the baby was coming- and NOW.
She starts screaming for my bro-in-law to PULL OVER!!!!!!
Well, he does, but the traffic is super heavy, and trucks are barrelling by, and cars whizzing, and they are just on the shoulder... he says "we can't stop here!! this isn't safe!!! I have to get you someplace safe!!!"
So he's driving trying to find a safer place to stop, he calls the midwife and explains what's happening, and she says "you have to stop- you.are.not.going.to.make.it.here!!!!!!!"
THANKFULLY- and it could only have been God- a police officer merges onto the highway right in front of them.
Bro starts honking and waving and flashing to get his attention.
The policeman thinks he's got a nut on his hands, and they pull off.
When he approaches the window, Bro shouts "THE BABY IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
To make a long story short (although, actually- it didn't take very long at all!), MY SISTER delivers HER BABY in the back seat of THEIR CAR by a POLICEMAN!!!!!
It only took about an hour from contractions to delivery!!!!
Can you believe that?!?!?!?!
They were in the newspaper this morning and the local news channel was coming this afternoon to do a story on them. They are celebrities!!!!!!
I'll post a pic of my baby niece when I have one.
Here's the brave couple:

How funny. I can't imagine what must have been going through the father's mind, you know that he was just sure he'd make it to the hospital one way or another. It's a good thing the policeman was there. What a great story for your niece to tell someday.

Oh my goodness! That's unbelievable! Can you imagine that poor police man? Here he thought he was just going to have to deal with his everyday run-of-the-mill goofball and instead he delivers a baby!

I actually thought of you as I was writing today's post. The whole "working in an antique store" thing and all. I couldn't agree more. There are certain pieces that I would never touch with my paintbrush. I try and differentiate between beautiful antique and just plain old. :-)

Nice hair, BTW. It's really looking good.

Oh my goodness! Glad they're all doing fine but what a story to tell the child when she gets older!

I'd love to know the thought process of the police officer from start to finish! =D

Congratulations to the new parents and to Aunt Gina!
